Big Red

Well now that I'm in Manhattan Beach, CA, the old blue Specialized women's mountain bike just won't due for cruising around our new home town. I need something a little more stylish and fit for a beach gal. So enter ----->

Ain't she a beaut? Milton surprised me with it on Valentine's Day. He found it at a bike shop in Hermosa Beach. It's vintage baby!!! Now all I need is to get an "accessory" pet to ride in the basket with me. Now that would be L.A.

The Little Things

that make me happy today:
  1. Farmers markets where you can taste all the yummy fruit before you buy it
  2. Mangoes in Feb! That are amazing!
  3. Orchids

Just outside my office is a weekly farmers market that has amazing local grown fruits and veggie, prepared foods. You name it and they had it....jerky, popcorn, tamales, these amazing orchids. Love CA!

MySpace - A little scary!

I resisted the peer pressure to get an account. But, in effort to support Suddyn (a hot new band that will be insanely successful, check them out at www.suddyn.com), I signed myself up for an account. I had heard a lot about myspace, mainly from some friends that have "met" some ladies and "had dinner" with them.

Supposedly it is a great "Networking Tool" - yeah if you want to be a porn star. Why do so many people have glamour shots of themselves in outfits that are best left unpurchased at Fredrick’s of Hollywood? I don't get it. It is a glorified personal ad where you can post pictures of yourself (either current or not) and invite people to be your "friend". It has made online dating acceptable for people that thought eHarmony and Match.com were lame. It is open game for people to cyber-scam (in the way a guy/girl scams on a person at a bar). Case in point - Milton got an email from a girl who thought it would fun it they "exchanged some e-mails" and got to know each other a little better. HELLO.... his profile says married!!! YUCK!

I apologize to anyone I have offended by my rant. If I am wrong and you have honestly met someone (not for romantic reasons) that has turned into a friendship please let me know. I still don't buy it. I would love to meet some nice girls to hang with on the west coast, but I highly doubt it wouldn’t be weird if I went trolling for them on myspace!....Am I wrong?

Sirius Radio

I caught myself listening to such a great array of music/shows this morning on my way to work. I flipped from Howard Stern, to "Move This" by Technotronic to Martha Stewart. My low point was when I found myself on the Children's channel listening to the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Yes, I was rocking out to The Count from Sesame Street. The scary part is that I was enjoying The Count's sing-a-long!

Retraction

My apologies go out to the greater LA area. I think I was too quick to judge.
I am currently working in the BCG LA office as an assistant. Filling in for someone while they travel for a month. It is ok work but more importantly I am meeting some people and getting to know more about LA. I have found that LA, the downtown area at least, is very courteous in the door holding and opening department. I think I was basing my judgment upon a few idiots in Hollywood. Probably not a good point of reference.
So...I guess it is the same everywhere. LA is no different....at least in this very inconsequential department.
