What the heck!

Why doesn't anyone hold the door for you here? At first I was getting really annoyed and thought I had just picked the wrong people to follow out. But you know what? It keeps happening, and all the time. Nobody holds the door for you! In fact - you know when you slide through a door that is closing so you don't have to touch it with your clean hands (but only when someone isn't behind you), well that is what everyone seems to do out here - even when you're right behind them. Maybe CA is full of germaphobes? Or, maybe the weather is always nice so they aren't used to having the doors closed and don't know this common courtesy? I don't know. I will get to the bottom of this and let you know. So, if you come and visit be sure not to let the door hit you smack in the face. Just kidding. I of course will continue to hold the door - I just risk being there all day.

Meggie, can't believe people in Boston held the door. I've notice that it is the young kids, even with Mom's that don't. I stare at the Mom, teach your kids some manners.

I have to say that this is one of those topics that has to go along with people not having manners these days... I see it becoming more commonplace with every day.

it's strange- i've been experiencing the opposite. Honestly, it's been mostly the male population, who have been holding the door for me. A few even went so far as to quicken their step, open the door, and allow me to pass through first!!!
I've made a point to thank them profusely- in hopes of encouraging this behavior. Perhaps chivalry is not dead? A great big Thank you to those men- you are slowly restoring my faith in your species.

uh, wrong-o wise guy. Not when referring to Homo habilis- a supposedly extinct subspecies of homo sapian, with the brain size roughly one half of todays human brain. Seriously brother, give it up.
